Biography

Son of C’bury club great Garry Hughes came onto the field as an unheralded replacement in the 1995 grand final and scored a vital try that propelled the club to victory. The talented centre/ five-eighth impressed with his mature ball skills and smothering defence to be a standout performer in C’bury’s late-season charge to the 1998 grand final. Hughes came off the interchange bench and played in the 38-12 loss to Brisbane. He retired at the end of 2004 after injury ruined his final season with the premiership-winning club.
