Your Say

Ken Stonestreet was a prolific winner of the ball in scrums. This was before the rules were changed whereby, now the scrums have become ineffective. In those days, hookers could strike for the ball in the scrum and Ken Stonestreet was the best in the world at this. He would win the "possession gained in scrums" stats in every game that he played, even when he was competing against superior opposition packs.
His selection for NSW was a fitting reward for him. He was not selected for his ball skills, even though he did score a try in his only appearance for the blues.
Ken Stonestreet was a legend among Western Suburbs fans because his ability gave Wests a chance against other teams due to weight of possession. Sadly, his team mates were not up to winning that many games.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ken Stonestreet in 1980 when I was a player with Campbelltown Collegians RLFC , Ken was the president of the club , he was a very kind down to earth gentleman , who always offered me his advice on and of the field. I was saddened to here of his passing , kind regards to Kens family ,
