Biography

Talented halfback captained Australian RU Schoolboys to NZ in 1989 while at Ipswich Grammar School. Polla-Mounter joined C’bury after making another schoolboy tour to the British Isles and the Netherlands in 1990-91. An aggressive competitor, he formed a good partnership with veteran pivot Terry Lamb in 1992 and was selected for City Origin the following year. He looked set for a big year in 1994 but after being injured, had to cool his heels in reserve grade for several weeks because of the good form of Kevin Moore. Polla-Mounter regained his first grade spot in time for C’bury's semi-final campaign and took his place in the grand final loss to Canberra. The tough half-back came into his own in the Bulldog’s stirring 17-4 win against hot favourites Manly in the 1995 grand final but subsequent seasons were affected by injury. Polla-Mounter showed all his class and maturity in C’bury’s late-season charge into the grand final in 1998 but the following season again saw him side-lined with a shoulder injury. The most aggressive of competitors, Polla-Mounter announced his retirement at the end of 2001 but missed the Bulldogs’ semi-final campaign when he fractured his sternum in the final round of the premiership.
