Your Say

We were newly wed neighbours in Lessingham Avenue, Wigan. When my wife was in labour with my son the midwife asked Chris if he had a spanner. He was flummoxed! A real gentleman. I haven't seen him since 1976 when he presented trophies to my young soccer players and I send him my heartiest best wishes.

Would just like to say that i had the privilege of knowing and indeed playing with Chris for short while in 1964 and 1965 at Wigan, although he may not remember me. I certainly do him!
We had a few games together in the 'A' team, he was a fantastic, tricky, slippery centre with pace and soft hands. I signed from Neath in Wales in 1964 but didn't really make it - they had me down as the (IRON MAN)!

I grew up in a Childrens Home, the highlight of my week was every second Friday night at the Willows watching my Heroes Salford my favourite player was Colin Dixon but who can ever forget Coulman, Richards, Fielding, Banner, Charlton, Walker, Prescott, Watkins, Gill, and the others including of course the silky Chris Hesketh. Alex Murphy christened them the (Quality Street Gang) How right he was for the Class of 1974/1975...RIP Chris and Thank you for some fantastic Rugby under the cold Floodlights at the Willows.

I had the privilege of watching Chris captain the 1974 Great Britain side at Carlaw Park, Auckland.
He impressed with speed and skill even in the rain on a quagmire.
Thanks Chris indeed a pleasure.
