Dempsey Joy was captain coach of the Tamworth City RLFC
Side In 1978 where he won the grand final.

Dempsey won 5 grand finals in junior Rugby League
under the coaching genius of Terry Cronin.In his first year in F grade the C.B.C old boys team was undefeated and opposed players such as Sleepy Bucknall,Norm Pounder and Eric Macro.
Dempsey was also in a Jersey Flegg grand final playing for Manly Warringah against South Sydney.
Dempsey was also a fearless big wave surfer.
