Biography

Dashing winger, the grandson of Newtown war-horse 'Bumper' Farrell, was named the inaugural Norwich ‘Rising Star’ winner and ‘Dally M’ Rookie of the Year in 1993. Elsegood suffered a shoulder injury in the 1994 World Sevens tournament and did not have the same impact in his second year in the top grade. After a short time in reserve grade, he clawed his way back to the club’s first grade team but the anticipated rep honours did not eventuate. Elsegood underwent a shoulder operation during the 1995 off-season and later sought a release from the club to play for Sydney City. Despite being a consistent try-scorer, his time with the Roosters was marred by injury and he announced his retirement in April 2001.
